To dispute a debt with a debt collector, you must contact them by phone. Then the debt collectors must send you a written notice. The written notice must explain to you the details on how to dispute the debt. Below are a few thing the letter must tell you.

�Name of the creditor.

�How and where to make a payment.

�Amount owed.

�A statement letting you know that it is an attempt to collect a debt.
